What is Aspirating Smoke (Fire) Detection Technology?

It is analyzed and determined from data and statistics in fire cases that, fire grows too slow at the start and only start growing faster after flame is generated. Time is a very important factor in fire. That’s why in special places like data rooms, control rooms, special warehouses and laboratories, detection should be made in minimum time to prevent or minimize any damage caused by fire.

VESDA is an active air sampling type smoke detection system. The system enables early warning through detection of very small smoke and gas particles in early stages of fire.

The most important feature which distinguishes VESDA from classical smoke detection systems is that it has a completely different detection method. The system works via smoke particle volume principle with aspirating and CMOS Imager with LED technology, thus being 1000 times more sensitive compared to classical smoke detectors.

VESDA active air sampling smoke detector can count the particles inside smoke via its LED technology measurement cell. Continuous increment of smoke concentration based on smoke particles can be programmed to activate relays for different levels of alarm outputs.

VESDA can activate audial & visual warnings through its relay when these levels are reached. Alert typically means that smoke density has reached %0.005 obs/m level. At this level, smoke can not be seen with human eyes and can not be smelled. Action means %0.01 obs/m level. At this level, smoke can not be seen but can be smelled. Fire 1 means %0,1 obs/m level. At this level, smoke can both be seen and smelled. Fire 2 means %4 obs/m level which is the detection measurement of standard point type smoke detector. At this level, smoke is gathered on the ceiling and its color is close to black. At this level, shadow of smoke can be seen under sunlight. VESDA makes a big difference with 1000 times faster smoke detection capability, as it can be seen on Alert and Fire 2 condition levels.
